EDUCATIONAL
PHILOSOPHY
Superimposed upon the fundamental leadership
philosophy and the requirements of a twenty-first leader, a person who aspires
to or leads a higher education institution must possess a clearly articulated
and easily understood undergirding educational philosophy that serves as the
core values that drives his/her leadership. My educational philosophy is guided
by the belief that the pursuit and attainment of higher education is a right
and not a privilege; and is the best and most assured way of achieving a better
life for our families and ourselves. I truly believe that education has the
capacity to transform: a person, a people, communities, nations, and ultimately
the world. As such, every student who is admitted to any college or university
should be provided with the best possible array of educational programs and
services to help them achieve their career goals and aspirations. Inherent in
this philosophy is the recognition that every student is an individual with
different goals, different learning styles, and different needs; and as such
each student should be provided with an individualized educational program and
opportunities for life-changing experiences; and thus help him/her to transform
his/her life, their respective communities and the ultimately the nations in
which they live. Embodied in this philosophy is the recognition that each and
every employee (faculty, administrators, and staff) of any college or
university has a significant role to play in helping every student to transform
his/her life.
